When to throw in the towel with your tech

Having to send your tech out for repair is slightly annoying but when you’re having to do it time and time again for the same device, it becomes infuriating!

So, how do you decide when enough is enough and buy a brand new device? We’re here to answer that for you. Follow our guide below to find out when it’s time to throw in the towel.

You’ve replaced half of it already

This is especially true for computers! If half of the components of a system or device have been replaced and repaired already, and it’s still not behaving – it’s time to consider whether the repairs are still economical. Once you’re in a pit of repairs, it’s too easy to keep going the extra mile in hopes it’s the last one.

Trust us when we say it’s better to stop while you’re ahead.

It’s been serviced but it’s still acting up

Maybe you’ve already taken it back to where you bought it, maybe you’ve had a third party service look at it and repair it, or maybe you’ve taken to doing any of this yourself. However, if it’s still acting up and the issues are rising quicker than they can be put out, maybe consider replacing the device entirely and starting fresh with something better.

It’s outdated

This one can be subjective depending on the type of device. If a device has lasted its expected lifespan, it’s probably worth the money to just upgrade anyway. Get something newer, faster and more powerful. After all, any tech purchase is a recurring cost in the long term.

Nobody else has had the issue

Quite often, computer issues can be quite small, easy to fix, and commonplace with people in similar situations to you. Whenever you encounter a computer problem, ask Alcom, our experts are always on hand to answer any questions you have.

By asking us, we’ll be able to let you know whether it’s a common issue people have and if it’s worth fixing, or whether you’re better off buying a new device.
