A phone network that works the way you do

VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) carries your calls over your internet connection rather than a traditional phone line. That means lower call costs, easy setup and a whole toolkit of features a standard landline could never offer.

Whether your team is in the office, working from home or spread across several sites, VoIP keeps everyone on the same phone system - with one number to ring when you need a hand. It's also the direction every UK business is heading: as the national phone network is switched off, VoIP is becoming the default way to make and receive business calls.

"VoIP" describes the technology itself, not a single product - it's the umbrella term for any phone system that runs over the internet. Our own recommended way to put VoIP to work for your business is 3CX, covered below.

Our recommended VoIP platform: 3CX

If you're ready to move to VoIP, 3CX is the specific system we install and support - unlimited extensions, call queues, mobile apps and local Aylesbury support.

Keeping your number, without losing a call

Two questions come up in almost every VoIP conversation we have: can we keep our existing number, and what happens if the internet goes down? The short answer to both is yes, we plan for it.

Porting your current landline and mobile numbers across to VoIP is standard practice - we handle the whole process, so customers and suppliers keep calling the numbers they already have saved. And because VoIP depends on your internet connection, we build resilience in from day one rather than leaving it to chance.

  • Number porting - keep your existing landline or mobile numbers, we manage the transfer with your current provider.
  • Bandwidth - each active call needs roughly 100kbps of stable upload and download; we check this against your line as part of every quote.
  • Failover - calls can automatically divert to mobile or a backup line if your main internet connection drops, so you don't miss enquiries.
  • Local support - one call to our Aylesbury-based Support Desk covers questions, changes or upgrades, no overseas call centres.

Frequently asked questions

The things businesses ask us most before switching to VoIP.

Do I need special hardware for VoIP?
No. VoIP works with softphone apps on the computers and smartphones you already have, so you can go live without buying anything new. If you'd rather use physical desk phones, we'll help you pick ones that are compatible.
Does VoIP still work during a power or internet outage?
VoIP needs power and an internet connection to work, which is the main trade-off versus a traditional landline. We plan around this with automatic failover to mobile or a backup line, so calls keep coming in even if your main connection drops. We'll talk through the right failover option as part of your quote.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Yes. Porting your existing landline and mobile numbers across to VoIP is standard practice and we handle the whole process for you, so customers and suppliers can keep calling the numbers they already have saved.
Is VoIP call quality as good as a landline?
With a stable internet connection and enough bandwidth, yes - most callers can't tell the difference. Call quality depends on your connection, so we check this as part of every quote and recommend adjustments where needed.
What internet speed do I need for VoIP?
Each active call needs roughly 100kbps of stable upload and download bandwidth, so a small office making a handful of calls at once is comfortable on most standard business broadband. We size this properly against your line and number of users as part of your quote.
